Balance Announces The Exciting New 442

Balance Catamarans is pleased to announce the new Balance 442. Built under license by Balance Catamarans Cape Town which is owned and operated by second-generation boat builder Mark Delany, the new 442 is a stunning blue water performance voyager fresh from the drawing board of esteemed catamaran designers Phillip Berman and Anton Du Toit.

The new Balance 442 will be a slightly scaled down version of the Award-winning Balance 526 and 482 catamaran. While she will have less waterline length, the Balance 442 will maintain all the same characteristics that made the Balance 526 so popular and innovative, including the highly coveted Versa-Helm.

Highlighted by her stunning forward-raked wave piercing bows, foam core hulls, decks and furniture, she offers incomparable performance and stunning design that can easily accommodate up to six people in her owner’s version configuration.

“In listening to feedback over the last several years, it became clear to us that many sailors wanted what the Balance 526 had to offer in a smaller package and lower price point,” said Phillip Berman, Balance Catamarans founder. “With the new Balance 442 we hope that we are able to further restore balance to the catamaran universe in the under 45’ category. It’s an added bonus to continue and grow our relationship with Mark Delany at Balance Catamarans Cape Town. He’s a second-generation boat builder with deep skills and integrity and a history of proven results.”

It is going to be an exciting year for Balance Catamarans in South Africa with the launch of the new Balance 442 and 482 models. The first six hulls of the new 482 have already been sold and we will see the completion of Balance 526 Hulls #8, #9 and #10 in 2020.

The Balance 526 and 620 will continue to be built in Saint Francis, South Africa, under the leadership of Jonathan Paarman at Nexus Yachts.

“We never wanted to grow the company too fast or lose touch with why we started in the first place,” said Berman, “which was to build the finest performance voyaging catamarans in the world for a handful of appreciative customers. We approach each boat as a work of art, but are palpably aware that our customers are risking their lives sailing the products we build. It is one thing to build fast and beautiful catamarans, but they must be built robustly enough to withstand the worst weather a sailor might encounter.”

Balance Catamarans produces high-performance catamarans of exceptional quality for oceanic adventure travel. Our design and build philosophy is to strike a careful balance between comfort, speed, quality and value. Since starting in 2012, the company has produced twenty-two of the finest handcrafted performance voyaging catamarans in the world.
