For over a decade, Balance Catamarans has been quietly redefining what a performance luxury catamaran can be. Since 2012, we’ve launched more than 100 Balance yachts, each one built on the same philosophy: uncompromising performance, cutting-edge carbon construction, and luxury that never gets in the way of speed.
The Balance 750 Ultra Velo is where that philosophy meets its fullest expression. At 76 feet, she’s not just the largest catamaran we’ve ever built – she’s our proof-of-concept flagship, specified without compromise from her carbon core to her Miele galley.
Carbon Core, Through and Through
Every Balance is a 100% foam-core epoxy build. But where our standard models blend carbon into high-load areas, the Ultra Velo carries a full carbon substructure – what we call her Carbon Core. The result is a lighter, stiffer platform with reduced displacement, translating directly into speed and responsiveness under sail.
That philosophy extends through her entire rig. A Marstrom Spars of Sweden carbon package that includes mast, boom, longeron, and crossbeam, carries a full North 3Di sail wardrobe: main, furling jib, screecher, staysail, gennaker, and storm jib. Carbon daggerboards and a long waterline sharpen her upwind angles, while her powerful sail plan and generous underwing clearance keep her composed across a wide range of conditions.
Sailing by Hydraulics, Monitored Live
What sets the Ultra Velo apart isn’t just what she’s built from – it’s how she’s operated. Her daggerboards, winches, windlass, and bow thruster all run off a single HydrauNautic power pack, putting the muscle of a much larger yacht within reach of a short-handed crew.
Every critical load is monitored in real time. Cyclops load pins on the cap shrouds, mainsheet, and code-zero tack report rig tension directly to the B&G H5000 system, giving the crew a live read on what the boat is doing under load. Let’s repeat that: not a guess, a live read that allows the crew to respond accurately every time to conditions.
Four Helms, Zero Compromise on Visibility
The Ultra Velo is the first high-performance luxury catamaran to offer four distinct piloting stations:
- A forward cockpit helm for fair-weather sailing, with a 12″ Nemesis display and winch-station switching
- A fixed carbon helm to port, on the salon bulkhead
- A carbon VersaHelm® to starboard, open to the air
- The same VersaHelm, pivoted 90° down into the aft cockpit, for fully protected sailing when the weather turns
Whatever the conditions, there’s a helm built for it and every one offers the kind of visibility and control that defines this yacht.
Life Aboard, Reimagined
Step below and the Ultra Velo shifts register entirely. Laid out as an owner’s version, with a capacious private owner’s suite, she offers three additional guest cabins with queen-size memory-foam berths and en-suite heads, plus a dedicated crew cabin and forward head and, wait for it, a gym. Keeping fit at sea is made special with this outfitted gym.
The interior is boldly curated contemporary European styling: Alpi veneer under two coats of lacquer, Cadorin floors, Fantini sanitaryware, and Avonite surfacing throughout the galley and heads. In the galley, a fully integrated Miele setup with five-zone induction hob, combi microwave, steam oven, dishwasher, washer-dryer all of which makes long passages as comfortable as, well, home! Twin 300-liter-per-hour watermakers and four drawer fridge-freezers mean provisioning for extended, remote cruising is never a limiting factor.
Up top, the Ultra Velo introduces a new kind of social space to performance sailing: a forward cockpit for lounging, a fly-style coach-roof lounge, and an aft cockpit fitted with a wet bar, drinks fridge, icemaker, and electric grill all under folding awnings.
Power to Go the Distance
Global cruising demands power to match, and the Ultra Velo delivers it: a lithium battery bank, dual Integrel generation off the main engines, 3.2 kW of solar, and a 19 kW genset carrying a hydraulic power take-off for the sailing systems. It’s a setup built for long stays in remote places, not just weekends at the dock.
